Roadtrip 2016 Fall: Vancouver - Yakima - Bend - John Day River - Port Orford - Florence - Seaside - Vancouver

Day 24 - Bandon, South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve, Coos Bay

Even the coleslaw is worth grabbing at Bandon Fish 'n Chips. Still our only go to for this coastal delicacy.

Russ and Emma wait patiently on the Bandon dockside.

Just one week to go - what drama will we see? We've certainly had our fill.

Emma ignores the political stuff and goes straight for her "sopa al fresco".

We think this is an example of 'goin' green just for the heck of it.

The boardwalk paths that wind throught the South Slough Conservation area. someone went to a huge whack of trouble to build these access routes through some remarkable and otherwise inaccessible areas.

Wouldn't this make an amazing race track for remotely powered vehicles?

Today's Mystery Poo. Or it could be Mystery Barf.

And the Mushroom of the Day.

Russ and Emma exit the "tunnel". Whew! They made it!

This part of the Estuarine Reserve is called The Tunnel. By "Estuarine Reserve Scientists". Uh-huh. Those same scientists don't like to come here. They mumble something about Roswell and run away.

There is something for everyone to do here.

Giant alien bones litter a nearby beach.

Forget the bones! Play ball!

The evening surf crowd arrives at Sunset Cove.

Bright city lights of the hopin' Main Street of Coos Bay. Not so much.
